Help us to save the bears of Bangladesh
Before they disappear forever

The Bangladesh Bear Conservation Project is a project of the Wildlife Trust of Bangladesh (WTB), and is based in Bangladesh. The project is supported by International Association for Bear Research and Management (IBA). Our goal is to save the Asiatic black bear (Ursus thibetanus), Sun Bear (Helarctos malayanus) and Sloth Bear (Melursus ursinus) from extinction through in-field scientific studies, conservation education, and through the rehabilitation and release of captive bears. We monitor both wild and rehabilitated bears, by interviewes, direct field study through the use of claw marks and foot print methods. Our aim is to improve human understanding of these gentle creatures by gathering data on their diet, behaviours and social interaction. Time is running out for the Bangladesh bear. The northeast and southeast part of Bangladesh have hilly forest area where these bears live, are rapidly disappearing. Without a better understanding of the bears' needs there is no way to implement a strategy for their survival. We need your help! We are currently the major organisation in the Bangladesh to research about bears in this country. The information we are gathering is vital to their survival.  Despite this we are a small, grass-roots operation with little funding.
